Workshop with Adrian Van Young

Through a mixture of short writing prompts to generate new material, craft-oriented discussions of published work, and seminar-style class discussion, this workshop will explore unreliable narrators, setting as character, information-delivery techniques, narrative pacing, and tension & suspense, to name just a few page-turning essentials. Come for the pulse-pounding, stay for the pathos--and keep your reader in their seat!

About Adrian Van Young

Adrian Van Young is the author of five books of fiction--most recently, Rough Beast, a heavy metal noir coming in October from Black Lawrence Press. His fiction, non-fiction & criticism have been published or are forthcoming in Electric Literature's Recommended Reading, Conjunctions, Guernica, BOMB, Granta, McSweeney's and The New Yorker online, among others. He teaches part-time in the MFA Program at LSU New Orleans, is a professional freelance editor, and currently splits his time between New Orleans and Paris, where he lives with his family.
